Abstract

The pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) has been widely researched since its beginning as specific knowledge for teacher. After more than twenty-five years of its existence, there is still controversy about its conceptions and many models have been proposed over the years. Based on the extensive literature and on theoretical research this project intends to elucidate the nature of this knowledge, of its components and about its developing process. The project intends to clarify how the potential of PCK can be used to develop teacher education. The aim of this project is to analyze the various models that have been proposed by several researchers, and compare them in different areas of science. It is going to be done a review about the literature looking for studies that report the theoretical point of view of PCK, for studies on the investigation of PCK in novice and experienced teachers and, for studies about changes in PCK during the professional development of teachers.
