Abstract

The municipality of Paulínia is fairly unique in the context of the metropolitan area of Campinas (RMC), since it is not characterized purely as a dorms peripheral municipality but introduces itself as beneficiary area by location of productive activities with high added value, especially in the petrochemical industry due to the presence of the Refinery of Paulínia (Replan), deployed in territory of Paulinia since 1972. Another peculiarity of the municipality is tied to the various transformations that have been taking place quickly in the forms of use and occupation of land, as a consequence of urban-industrial growth accelerated found in recent decades. However, many times this set of changes was not effectively monitored by efficient public policy planning and territorial management, giving rise to a number of urban problems, among them the occupation of territory caused by unequal real state speculative processes and the increasing differentiation of exchange value and use of urban land. Within this perspective, the main goal of this work is centered in advancing understanding of the city of Paulínia, particularly with regard to the dynamic current of the differential recovery on urban land and its consequences on the territory of Paulinia. The methodology to be followed consists in bringing activities of literature review and theoretical deepening involving the theme of research, along with the application of geoprocessing technologies to produce thematic maps, field research and data collection with interviews, as supporting analyses quali-quantitative in order to meet the proposed goal.
