Abstract

LTE (Long Term Evolution) and EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) are two promising technologies in broadband access networks, fixed and mobile, respectively. These technologies are used to facilitate the connection between end users to the Internet. The fact that these technologies are complementary motivates the integration of EPON and LTE, taking advantage of both technologies. In this integrated scenario, the optical network is the LTE backhaul, connecting base stations (LTE eNBs, Enhanced Node B) to the core mobile network (EPC Evolved Packet Core). Thus, to facilitate a true convergence of fixed and mobile technologies in the so-called All-IP NGN (Next Generation Network), term known as FMC (Fixed Mobile Convergence). In this integrated environment, there are several problems that must be addressed, including the provision of Quality of Service (QoS). This work aims at providing quality of service in the EPON-LTE integrated environment.
