Abstract

This research project aims to analyze the different corporalities and styles of men who establish sexual-affective relationships with other men to understand the ways in which gender, "race"/color, generation/age, class and regionality markers intersect in the production of desire and a desirable subject in spaces of homosexual sociability in the outskirts of São Paulo and Belém. The departing point is to think the aforementioned markers as articulated categories (McClintock, 2010) that delimit distinct possibilities of agency and construction of the subject, taking into account the centrality of the two cities - São Paulo e Belém - on efforts of investigations about identities and classification associated to "race" and sexuality in Brazil. Concerning methodological proposals, I make use of ethnographies, direct observations and qualitative interviews with application of semi-structured questionnaires as a way to analyze the similarities and/or differences between the two cities with regard to: production of spaces for sociability in the outskirts, the search for desirable subjects in the outskirts and desire flows from the outskirts to downtown, from downtown to the outskirts and within the outskirts itself.
