Abstract
The production of energy from solar cells is growing at a rate of 40% per year and the participation of thin film solar modules has been increasing continuously, increasing the market share of 6% in 2005 to 16-20% in 2009. In this context, the chalcogenide materials have presented the highest efficiency for solar cells in laboratory and industrial scale. In this way, this project is proposed to obtain thin films of chalcogenide MBSe type (M = Ag or Cu; B= In, Ga, Sb or Tl; and S = S or Se) by electrodeposition on different substrates. The deposits will be obtained by co-deposiyion and by multilayer electroplating of pure elements. Due to the large number of variables in the electroplating process, such as: temperature, composition of the bath deposition technique, as well as the type of ternary films we would use a experimental planning to assess the influence of these parameters on the optoelectronics properties of films obtained. The films will be characterized by physical techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, dispersive analysis of x-rays, x-ray diffraction, Raman Spectroscopy, photoelectron spectroscopy x-ray. The optoelectronics properties will be evaluated by UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, photoelectrochemical and impedance spectroscopy techniques. The films will be treated to improve crystalline. In the final stage of the work, when all conditions of electroplating are optimized and featured films, some of these thin fims will be chosen to build a photovoltaic device of small area in order to assess the efficiency of energy conversion. This stage of work will be performed in a stage of Ph.d. sandwich a year in Canada or in the USA.
