Abstract

Materials in nanometric scale present interesting properties, which differ from both bulk materials and the derived atomic and molecular species. These different properties besides promote strong interest of researchers from different scientific areas, provide the development of new technologies for these nanomaterials application. In these technologies, the inkjet print using magnetic inks acts like a powerfull gun against falsifications of documents, checks and bank notes. However, a few literature works report studies for the development of magnetic inks with tunable magnetic properties, what opens a wide range for researches of development from this type of technology. In this context, the project proposes the development of synthetic routes based in the modified polyol proccess to obtain monodisperse nanoparticles of CoFe2O4, BaFe2O4 and MnFe2O4, with controlled size, morphology and chemical composition. The control of these characteristics will provide the adjustment of their magnetic properties, like saturation magnetization and superparamagnetic behavior. Futhermore, from the gradual substitution of the hydrophobic ligands, oleic acid and oleylamine remain on the nanoparticles surface due to synthetic procedure, to hydrophilic molecules of dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), the hydrophilic/hydrophobic balance of nanoparticles surface will be studied in order to stablish the best condition of colloidal stability of the nanoparticles in commercial inkjets.
