Abstract

Gut parasite infections are frequent in children and they are associated to precarious habits of hygiene, contact with other children and collective dwellings without basic sanitation. To promote actions of preventive medicine that aim the quality of life of the individuals, it is necessary to put together knowledge through activities of education in health. The school is a space privileged for such activities, since it brings together, for a significant period, childish and adolescent in a critical stage of growth and development, being a strategic place for the promotion in health. Teachers play an important role to stimulate the discoveries and reflections of the students on the reality. For so, they often need to develop different methods so that the pupils get really interested and curious to learn. In this context, the use of alternative methodologies fits, like playful activities with games, which must be adapted to the cognitive capacities and to have their contents matched to the population. The present project intends to prepare, introduce and evaluate the use of playful activities with the use of a set of games to help pupils of the 5th and 6th year of a public school of a city of the state of Sao Paulo to learn about gut parasite infections. For that, the study will be divided in three moments: (1) Application of questionnaires to the pupils to observe his knowledge's on gut parasites; (2) introduction of playful activities with games and; (3) evaluation if the use of the games contributed to the apprenticeship of the pupils. This work will contribute producing and testing a new educational material, as well as proposing strategies for actions of extension in programs of education in health. (AU)
