Abstract

The following research has an analysis of the São Paulo Theater, located in Bauru/SP, as the main object of study. It goes from the cartographic, iconographic, hemerograpfic, and documental survey that intends to outstand relevant questions from the project concept to its disappearance. Besides the architectonic set, the approach of the political, economical, social, and cultural issues that involve this project will be also relevant, creating a connection to the resultant urban context of the CEFNOB implementation in the city. The present Scientifical Initiation project is linked to the main project "EFNOB, Bauru - Km 0", inserted on the specific theme "Activities and Spaces for recreation and culture" by Prof. Dr. Paulo Roberto Massen. The study over the São Paulo Theater turns up because of the importance it has acquired as the main space of public fun and entertainment to the city for 30 years since its inauguration in 1923. Although it was not actually built by NOB company, it has stood out compared to the other spaces of recreative use by becoming the trail workers and high employees social reunion center because of several aspects like, for example, privileged location.
