Abstract

Allelopathy can be defined as any process involving secondary metabolites produced by plants and microorganisms that influence the growth and development of natural and agricultural systems. When these substances are characterized it can be used in the prospecting of alternative products of medical-veterinary or agriculture interest. Therefore, the first step to be taken in phytochemical studies is the evaluation of activity of extracts of a plant species and their subsequent fractionation using the technique known as bioassay-guided isolation, which directs the isolation according to bioactivity evaluated in target species through coleoptiles bioassays, seed germination, seedling growth, control of fungal growth, among others. The present study aims to conduct the bioassay-guided isolation of crude extracts of bark and mature leaves of Blepharocalyx salicifolius Kuth O. Berg. For this study a series of chromatographic procedures will be adopted for the fractionation of crude extracts obtained, being directed by bioassays performed at each step, which will demonstrate what fractions are more promising towards the phytotoxic activity, fungicidal and/or antioxidant. The obtained data for the parameters evaluated in each bioassay (phytotoxicity, fungicide and antioxidant) will be before submitted to tests of normality (Shapiro-Wilk) and homogeneity (Levene), to be used in the appropriate statistical
