Abstract

The search for bioactive substances in natural products has stimulated integrated approaches capable of providing information about the processes and interactions involved in the pharmacological responses of bioactive matrices. Among these approaches, highlights the metabolomics which, from the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the molecular composition of an organism, allows the explanation of biological processes through evaluation of metabolic responses, as well as an integrated view of the biochemistry of a complex mixture and its biological effects on a specific organism. This project aims to develop methods to assess the cytotoxic potential and the possible mechanisms involved in the bioactivity by integrated analysis of the metabolite profile of different tumor cell lines, using NMR and MS, against plant species from Chrysobalanaceae family. Different tumor cell lines will be treated with different concentrations of plant extracts and then analyzed by NMR and MS to determine the extra and intracellular metabolite profile. (AU)
