Abstract

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients on hemodialysis have their quality of life deeply changed and religiousness, spirituality, and personal beliefs are shown as important tools in disease coping. This study intends to evaluate the quality of life of adults and elderly with chronic kidney disease (CKD) on hemodialysis through WHOQOL-bref and WHOQOL-SRPB. This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study performed at the Nephrology Clinic of Sao Carlos, where there are currently 169 patients on hemodialysis. The subjects who fulfill the inclusion criteria will be invited to participate in this research and once obtained their consent, it will be requested their signature on the Instrument of Consent, followed by filling up the Subjects Characterization Instrument and quality of life assessment instruments WHOQOL-bref and WHOQOL-SRPB. Worth informing that this last instrument is a specific module that evaluates QOL domains: spirituality, religiousness, and personal beliefs. The project was approved by the Ethics Committee of the Universidade Federal de São Carlos (Parecer nº165/2012).(AU)
