Abstract

The development of supramolecular systems based in carbon nanomaterials with biological molecules, usually peptides and DNA, have been highlighted in the literature, due to the potential applications, as drug delivery systems, electrochemical sensors, enhancing the interaction with cells, among others, because of the properties arising of the formed structure between the carbon nanomaterial and the biological molecule. This project aim the synthesis of a new system based on the modification of pyrolitic graphite particles with peptidic compounds derivated of L-diphenylalanine and cysteine, The peptides will be synthesized by Merrifield protocol of peptides synthesis, and will be adsorbed on graphite surface in aqueous solution, by À-stacking interactions between the aromatic ring of phenylalanine and the surface, they will be characterized by spectroscopic, electrochemical, and spectro-electrochemical techniques, in a way to evaluate the peptide adsorption on the carbonic matrix, lastly the system will be exposed to nitric oxide, to react with the cysteine that have antiradical properties, what can shown a potential applications of this system as a electrochemical nitric oxide sensor. Therefore this system can react with Fe(II, III) ions, in the way to build a model of a biomimetic complex of proteins based on iron-sulfur clusters on the graphite particle surface, aiming your characterization on the particle surface and a comparative study of the model with the native enzyme.
