Abstract

Given the importance of listening to the child's overall development, this study aims to examine the adequacy of responses and auditory development in infants prothetizades who remained hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit and/or Intermediate Care Facility CAISM when neonates. Will be evaluated five infants who remained in the ICU and/or Intermediate Care Facility CAISM when infants with sensorineural or mixed hearing loss characterized by electrophysiological threshold greater than 30 dB in brainstem auditory potential, absence of transient otoacoustic emissions, that was referred to as the process of selection of hearing aids in the period 2011 to 2012. After adjustment of the prosthesis, patients are monitored quarterly, and start the validation stage. Will be tested minimum levels of auditory response obtained with hearing aids and detection of speech sounds to evaluate the audibility of speech and behavioral responses to stimuli not calibrated. With this study, it is expected to evaluate the results of the intervention in infants observing the developmental stage of the child's hearing, speech audibility, auditory, and development.(AU)
