Abstract

This research project will focus on making contributions to the development of methods for determining power systems operating conditions regarding voltage stability in operation planning and real time environments. The idea is to use a circuit decomposition technique recently proposed in the literature named channel component transform (CCT). The possibility of decomposing a large scale network into a set of elementary circuits for which the voltage stability conditions can be determined with very small computational effort is very attractive from the real time operation point of view. A critical and rigorous analysis of the CCT will be carried out from the standpoint of its utilization in real time. Besides, a comparative study involving the results provided by CCT and by other well-known techniques, as for example those based on reactive participation factors, will be carried out. (AU)
