Abstract

In this proposal, we plan to perform a systematic investigation of optical and magneto-optical properties of semiconductor nanostructures emphasizing the dynamic properties of spin. In particular, we propose to study the polarization resolved and time resolved photoluminescence in the presence of magnetic fields of InGaAsN / GaAs and GaAsBi nanostructures grown in different crystallographic directions. These materials have drawn much attention recently for its exceptional features, which makes them interesting for the field of spintronics. Among those characteristics, we may highlight the large band gad modification with introduction of N or Bi in few quantities and the long spin lifetimes of carriers and the possible use of these materials as spin filters at room temperature. Our samples were grown by Dr Mohamed Henini University from the Nottingham (UK) and also by Dr. S. Wang's from the Photonics Laboratory, Chalmers University of Technology (Goteborg, Sweden). This project will be developed by using the research infrastructure of Laboratory for Optical Spectroscopy of Nanostructures of Wroclaw University of Technology (Poland), which has suitable equipments and other samples for spectroscopic studies proposed in the energy range of near infrared, through the supervision of Dr. Robert Kudrawieck, expert in spectroscopic studies of semiconductor nanostructures containing N and Bi.
