The coastal areas are located between the ocean and the earth and therefore have much complexity. The intense natural dynamic gives the coastal area fragility and vulnerability in the natural processes. The increase of the urbanization process in these areas makes lots of modifications in the natural environment, so that it can improve the human life and their needs. The problem is that these modifications in the natural system have bad consequences such as flow debris, erosions and floods. The north coast of Sao Paulo State has a giant environmental fragility and the occupation pressure makes necessary a Geoenvironmental zoning study for the city of Caraguatatuba-SP. The methodology used is the proposal of Rodriguez, Silva e Cavalcanti (2004). The primary goal of this study is to make a map of geoenvironmental units scaled in 1:50.000. The final results can contribute with the use and occupation plan and also be an information base for the environmental and urban planning in the area, so that the degradation and the environmental impacts can be reduced.
