Abstract

Premature ovarian failure is marked by hypoestrogenism and hyper gonadotropin ism. It reaches about 1% of the female population with an age inferior to 40 years and, in the majority of the diagnosis, its etiology is unknown. As it can lower the life expectancy of those women, it's fundamental the analysis some clinical, metabolical, and laboratories parameters of the hormonal replacement treatment's subjects in order to appraise the treatment's efficiency. Objective: evaluate clinical, metabolical, and laboratories parameters, before and after two or more years after the hormonal replacement therapy in women suffering from premature ovarian failure and compare the results with different therapeutic schemes. Subjects and methods: it's a retrospective cohort study in which 120 prontuaries' data about women with premature ovarian failure attended in the Obstetric and Gynecology Department of UNICAMP's Healthcare Science College will be collected, in the 2000-2012 period. Results' Analysis: The data will be presented as a mean ± standard deviation, and will be applied to compare the analysis of variance (ANOVA) for repetitive measures; for the non-normal variables, the Friedman Test (non-parametric statical test. To correlate the clinical (BMI, waist and hips' measures, blood pressure) and metabolical parameters(blood glucose levels, triglyceride, total body cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol), as well as the bone mineral density measures (backbone and femoral neck) and the POF's diagnosis age, hormonal treatment starting date, the time elapsed between the diagnosis's age and the therapy's start, will be used in Spearman's rank correlation.(AU)
