Abstract

Methane is a by-product generated in the digestive process (fermentation) of ruminants which occurs in the rumen. The main objective of the project is to evaluate whether different dietary conditions affect the concentration of hydrogen and methane production. Two experiments will be carried out, the first refers to the assessment of whether or not the addition of sources of medium-chain fatty acids associated with two passage rates on the concentration of hydrogen, methane production and number of protozoa. The second experiment concerns the use of bromoetanosulfonato (BES) nitrate and associated with two passage rates in a system of continuous in vitro fermentation on the concentration of hydrogen and methane production. The internship abroad still aims for closer international relations and improvement of the English language. (AU)
