Abstract

Overweight configures a major public health problem in Brazil and many other countries, since it is a risk factor for many health diseases. Many factors are related to this epidemic, as changes in lipid profile. Dyslipidemias play a direct role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction and several other cardiovascular risk factors, which are the leading cause of death in Brazil. Objective: To evaluate the lipid profile of residents in São Paulo city according to nutritional status. Methods: It will be used data from a population-based cross-sectional study ISA Capital 2008, regarding the sample of residents in the city of São Paulo. Individuals are categorized into groups according to BMI at each age group. It will be measured total cholesterol, HLD-C, LDL-C and triglycerides were assessed. It will be then investigated the association of lipid profiles and nutritional status. (AU)
