Abstract

Fungi are a group of marine organisms poorly explored from the ecological and biotechnological points of view. These micro-organisms may have biological advantages for their application in saline environments or processes. In this context, about 115 filamentous fungi recently recovered from marine samples (sponges, sea urchins, algae, and sediments) during the conduction of the Thematic Project FAPESP 2010/50190-2 "Investigation of biotechnological and metabolic potential from marine-derived organisms for bioremediation processes and production of substances with anti-viral, anti- anti-Leishmania and inflammatory activities", will be used in order to expand the collection of marine-derived fungi associated to the Microbial Resource Center of UNESP (CRM-UNESP) and prospecting ligninolytic enzymes. The ligninolytic enzymes belong to the group of oxidases and peroxidases and for having low specificity to the substrate can act in the degradation of various environmental pollutants compounds, including textile dyes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) derived from petroleum.(AU)
