This project aims to produce urethanes PDMS derivatives (PDMSUr) with low glass transition temperature, low water uptake, low surface energy and good adhesion properties on glass, titaniun alloys and stainless steel. The synthetic process of PDMSUr involves a green route using carbon dioxide as phosgene substitute often used in traditional routes. These materials will be tested as medical and dental implants. The tests will be performed at IFAM - Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials (IFAM). Moreover, this kind of material has potential to adhere on glass/aluminiun substrates with adhesion force greater than 2 kg/cm2. These materials can be resistent to impact due to PDMS segments and are environmental friendly. (AU)
