Distributed generation systems have become common along the last years due to the development of renewable energy sources. Additionally, storage technologies and their respect power converters have been added into the system in order to store and to supply energy in suited moments. By aiming the reliability, uninterrupted supplying, efficiency and stability, centralized controllers were implemented in distributed system, making them to be entitled smart-grids. Such controllers manage the operation modes of the system generators and converters. This research project proposes to study and of multilevel inverters in smars-grids aiming the active power injection from energy storage together with power quality improvement. An experimental platform will be developed to verify the project functionalities. It will basically consist in a low power electrical system with generators, batteries, bidirectional multilevel inverter, nonlinear loads and local and central controllers. The controller central will monitor the system variables and send them to the distributed generator in order to operate under pre-specified rules. The Conservative Power Theory will be the base for analysing the power in the grid.
