Abstract

The great need for changes in the global energy system by fossil fuel depletion and environmental changes leads to the search for alternative sustainable energy, especially biofuels such as ethanol of the second generation. The present study aims to evaluate the technological potential of the crude extract enzyme produced by the thermophilic fungus Myceliophthora sp., In bioethanol production through enzymatic hydrolysis of bagasse cane sugar. The fungus will be grown in solid-state fermentation and submerged, containing shredded cardboard as lignocellulosic substrate. The extracts will be characterized (optimum pH and temperature, thermal stability and related to pH and ion effect on enzyme activity) and the activity of ²-glucosidase and cellulase endoglucanase. Enzymatic hydrolysis of sugar cane bagasse will be conducted under conditions determined as optimal and by the determination of the sugar profile will be possible to compare the application potential of the extract obtained by each fermentation system. Furthermore, the aim is to optimize the process of saccharification using different concentrations of nonionic surfactants such as Tween 20 and Tween 80. (AU)
