Abstract

This project aims to conquer a scholarship to make a research internship at the Center for Information Technology Policy (CITP). The objectives of the project are closely linked to the research I have been developing under the title: "The techno-social assemblages of the megamachine of data flow". During the internship I intend to conduct both empirical and theoretical work. The first one will be held at IEEE-SA (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standards Association), the institution encharged by the development of WiMAX technology. From field observations, I intend to describe the decision making process from which emerge technical innovations that become new technological Standards. In it's turn, the theoretical work will be held on the premises of the University, where I'll have access to a large collection of libraries, as well as the expertise accumulated by CITP on central subjects to my research, as invention, standardization, intellectual property and technology policies.
