Abstract

This research aims to address the history of the city of Ribeirão Preto with respect to two moments of their urban transformations. During the First Republic will discuss the works of sanitary improvement and beautification of the city, conducted through contracts and concessions of urban services such as water and sewer system. Then we will investigate the process of expanding the city between 1930 and 1960, through allotments, covering the proceedings of their approvals and the design they gave city. Erected as a parish Religious Heritage works to those gestated by the richness of "complex coffee" gave Ribeirão Preto airs and equipment "metropolitan", the coffee crisis in the 1930s led to changes in the matrix of city growth, and further expansion of the city is through real estate projects in the urban area then. Among these allotments identify those who received the influence of ideology cities gardens. By the same methodological approach will seek to articulate these two historical moments of Ribeirão Preto, how was the correspondence between social institutions and material organization of the city.
