Abstract Forms of industrial agglomeration frequently are result of Brazilian government planning that historically influenced territory's configuration and consequently the distribution of economic activities, as they are in present day. However, factors like the global structuration of production, circulation and market; the technical, organizational and spatial restructuration of production; real estate interests for territorial production of this forms; or else the changes is the State role when adopt neoliberal prerogatives require a new analysis about territory's planning, production and use, considering current references. To do this, need systematize and update knowledge about forms of industrial agglomeration in contemporary Brazil, as well as establish it's relation with continuities and changes at initiatives of territorial planning like way to identify currently involved agents and make an interpretation of its intentionality, strategies and locational decisions in the light of these new factors. For two periods analysis (1950 to 1990 / 1990 onwards) will be collected primary and secondary data, interviews with departments and public agencies, as well as fieldworks in Brazilian most dynamic industrial areas, which will subsidize maps and coremas about the phenomenon.
