Abstract

Children with specific language impairment (SLI) show several linguistic impairments, between them difficulties with verbs might be remarkable (Windfuhr, Faragher, et al., 2002). Many researchers have been studying verb acquisition's implications for SLI children, once verbs play an important role as syntactic structure organizers and they are also essential to correct use of other word classes (Araujo, 2007). Therefore, aiming to study the functional use of verbs and nouns by children with SLI who speak Brazilian Portuguese, this project intends to quantify the relationship between nouns and verbs in Brazilian preschoolers with SLI, and also to classify the verbs produced by them, according to the proposal of Lima (1982).
