Abstract

The information and communication technologies are often used to facilitate access, retrieval and use of information in the appropriation of knowledge. However, the difficulties for the description and access library resources in the Web platform are inordinate, is questioned in this context, the use of the Dublin Core Metadata Standard can keep the principles of flexibility and extensibility, facilitating the location of resources and access information on the Web? And if the use of the Dublin Core standard could act to promote interoperability between systems in the domain bibliographic? The objective is to verify the syntactical structures of the Dublin Core metadata standard with a focus on ensuring the interoperability between information systems and the use of cataloging codes when filling values of the attributes of informational resources. The methods used will be exploratory and descriptive analysis of the available literature on the subject, inserted into in the course of cataloging processes, using as a tool for analyzing the logic of bibliographical description in order interoperability in information environments. It is hoped that this study ways point to solutions for the construction of forms of representation that reflects on the optimization of access to information and recovery resources in the digital environment.
