Abstract

The main theme of this Project is the development of an integrated framework for planning and management of research, development and innovation (RDI). This framework intends to give support and coherence to a set of methods of prospective studies, impact evaluation, organization of PDI, and planning and management of activities and organizations of Science, Technology and Innovation STI. The project will be conducted in a 10 months sabbatical at the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIoIR) in the city of the same name in England. The MIoIR is a world-class centre for research and education in economics and management of STI, based in the Business School at the University of Manchester. The main challenge is to move forward in building a conceptual framework based on the evolutionary economics approach and complemented by two other institutional approaches: the Hybrid Models of Governance and Organization, and the Theory of Strong Reciprocity. These two approaches can contribute to complement and to strength the evolutionary approach towards planning and management STI activities and organizations. With this perspective we expect to reach greater consistency on the use of methodologies of planning and management of STI, claiming principles that enhance and guide the development of methods to organize innovation processes.
