Abstract

In this project it will be evaluated the proliferation rate in the intestinal epithelium of juveniles pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus, Holmberg, 1887), endemic and neotropical specie, fed with lyophilized bovine colostrum as a source of protein and IGF-I, wich is a potential stimulator of mitotic activity in the intestinal tract. Analyses will be performed from material obtained of juveniles pacu randomly assigned in a factorial scheme 3x2 (18 fishes per treatment, considering the triplicates) corresponding to experimental diets (0,10 and 20% of lyophilized bovine colostrum - CBL - inclusion) and the dates of slaughter (30 and 60 days). Seven juveniles of each treatment were used to obtain samples of four regions of the intestinal tract which will be labeled immunohistochemically to expression of the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). The rate of cellular proliferation will be obtained by the ratio: number of positives cells for PCNA immunoexpression/ total number of cells, multiplied per 100. The intestinal cells will be analysed in 20 fields, using 100-fold increase.
