Abstract

ABSTRACTThe region of Pontal do Paranapanama is an area of intense land conflict marked by a history of land fraud by large landholders and an ongoing struggle for land by peasants, who first struggle for access to land, and subsequently, struggle to remain on the land and to reproduce social relations of production that are distinctly different than those inherent to a capitalist model. Settlements are territorial units pertaining to peasants, encompassing numerous different lots, with spaces dedicated to production for self-consumption, supplying the spaces of domestic needs or for commercialization. This work will examine the Novo Conquista settlement, comprised of 104 lots, with 77 of these lots located in the municipality of Rancharia (SP) and 27 in the municipality of Martinópolis (SP). Considering the above scenario, this research seeks to provide a greater understanding of the formation process of territorial peasants units, as well as forms of existing socialization and how they relate and interact with other sectors of society, in the context of a specific territorial arrangement and through the analysis of domestic spaces and production. Central to this project is the question of land conflicts and the relations that the territorial peasant units maintain to the state and with society in general. It is the author's intention that this project will serve to stimulate actions in the territory by both the settled families and local powers in favor of the researched reality.
