Abstract

Elements of structural glued laminated timber (glulam) have long been used in North America and Europe, however in Brazil's restrictions on the use of reason in the face of uncertainty related to potential fire hazards. This paper investigates the thermal and mechanical behavior of structural elements glulam exposed to fire, made from wood species, preservative treatments and adhesives commonly used in the national market. The main objective of this research is to analyze the fire resistance of structural elements of glulam taking into account the behavior of the adhesive at elevated temperatures. For this purpose tests will be conducted at elevated temperatures in the horizontal oven purchased by the Department of Structures - SET - EESC - USP and tests at ambient temperature in the Laboratory of Wood and Wood Structures (LaMEM). Numerical analysis with a view to monitoring deflection at mid-span, stress and temperature distribution along the depth of the elements will be carried out and their results are compared with other results obtained through experimental analyzes provided herein, as well as with results of analyzes presented in other references.
