Abstract

The elderly represent a growing group, and therefore, strategies are needed assistance and care needs of this group. Changes in health during aging can cause declines of different organ systems. The principal changes in this population health arise, for example, strokes which may cause changes as aphasia. Despite the positive results achieved by traditional approaches to the treatment of aphasia, behavior analysts have developed procedures for teaching verbal repertoires successful with clinical populations of non-elderly, employing exclusion procedures and teaching repertoires for conditional discrimination training equivalence between verbal stimuli. The overall objectives of this work are: a) verify the effectiveness of a teaching nouns and verbs exclusion for groups of elderly people with Broca's aphasia and Wernicke, from the establishment of a baseline conditional discrimination with stimuli auditory and visual (written words, pictures and videos), and b) verify the emergence of repertoires not directly taught (transitive relations between stimuli, naming and reading), and their retention in different time periods. Participants in the study were 48 seniors, 24 seniors to each set of changes. Will be conducted two studies in which participants are exposed to pre-test verbal repertoire and will expose a procedure for teaching relations between dictated words, pictures or videos and printed words, probes with subsequent formation of equivalence, naming and reading , and post-testing and monitoring of retention of learning in different periods post-intervention. The experiment will be multiple polls.
