Abstract

The present study aims to identify the conception and the behavior of caregivers of children with cleft palate, about the nursing's care at the postoperative period of primary surgeries. It is about a clinical experimental research, where will be participating 80 caregivers of children with isolated cleft palate, in and immediate postoperative period of primary restorative surgery (lip repair and/or palatoplasty), between 18 and 60 years old, females, with elementary schooling, composing two groups, experimental and control. The data collection's procedures will occur during the period of the child's hospitalization and will be divided in three steps. On the pre-training¸ will be evaluated the information's standards about the postoperative's cares and the behavioral profile, predictors of emotional instability, coping, overload, intellectual flexibility and depressive signals of the caregivers, with the use of the following instruments: Structured Interview Protocol, Inventory of stress symptoms for adults, Inventory of Beck for depression, Inventory of Beck for anxiety , non-verbal intelligence test, and Bourden Interview Scale. After, the caregivers will receive training with orientations about the necessary cares with the child in the postoperative period. Whereas for training of the experimental group will be made an educative video, which will address health concepts and cares which should be dismissed at home, after the discharged. On the post-training, followed by the training, will be reapplied the Structured Interview Protocol, to evaluate the standard of information acquired in both groups. The data will be punctuated according normative criteria of each instrument and descriptively analyzed. Will be submitted to statistical study, with significance level of 5% that the differences are considered significant.
