Abstract

The purpose of this project is to study the notion of human evoked by Hollywood's science fiction films since 1975, observing the simbolic markers that distinguish human from aliens, computers, machines, cyborgs, robots, androids and so on. In an effort to do so my atention will turn itself mainly to two movies: Alien (Scott, 1979) and Tron (Lisberger, 1982). Through american documentaries and actors', directors' and producers' interviews, this project intends to retrace the notion of human built in the uniques experiences in which the making of those movies were submerged. In order to make a more comprehensive analysis, a small antropological experiment with adolescents will also be presented with the intention to focus on the specifities of the brazilian young audience and the way these movies' social experience is retaken, reviewed and reapropriated in brazilian context.
