APPROXIMAL ART RESTORATIONS USING DIFFERENT DENTAL MATERIALS

Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the longevity of occlusal-proximal restorations performed by Atraumatic Restorative Treatment (ART), comparing two types of materials: Glass ionomer cement (GIC) and Carbomer Glass (CG). 200 children will be selected with occlusal-proximal caries in primary molars, with dimension not exceeding 1.0 mm (mesiodistal), 1.5 mm (occlusal-cervical) and 2.0 mm (vestibule-lingual), measured with a periodontal probe. The selected cavities will be treated with steps of clinical ART, being restored with high-viscosity GIC (Fuji IX Extra - GC Corp) and carbomer Glass (Glass Carbomer - Dental GCP). The restorations will be evaluated after 1, 6 and 12 months by two trained and calibrated examiners. To evaluate the normality of the data the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test will be used. To check the survival of the restorations the survival analysis of Kaplan-Meier and log rank test will be used. To evaluate the association between the outcome variables and patient characteristics Cox regression test will de applied. The significance level for the tests will be considered as 5%.
