Abstract

In natural environment or in fish farms, the fishes are hosts of several species of parasites, which can cause important diseases. Among these parasites, the myxosporeans, due to the great diversity and great potential pathogenic of some species, are receiving increasing attention from researchers in various regions of the world. So far there are more than 2,300 species known, the vast majority of which infects fish, both from natural environment and fish farms, and some species are responsible for high mortality rates in various parts of the world. This work has as aim the study of the diversity and host-parasite interaction of parasites of the phylum Myxozoa found infecting Symphysodon discus, Carnegiella strigata, Corydoras julii, Paracheirodon innesi and Osteoglossum bicirrhosum from Amazon basin. The fishes will captured in the natural environment and, in the case of the species already breed in from fish farms, also will be examined from fish farm. The study of host-parasite interaction give up-to from the ultrastructural analysis and histopathology. To taxonômica studies, will be conducted morphological analyzes using light microscopy, transmission electron microscopy and molecular analysis by gene sequencing 18S rDNA and ribosomal intergenic region (ITS-1). The samples will be obtained from region of the cities of Iquitos in the Peruvian Amazon and Manaus, in the Brazilian Amazon.
