Abstract

Consider indicators as quantitative measures or qualitative constructed to allow knowledge of the social reality of a given territory. This connection required indicators with social reality, people and territory transform these indicators important instruments of observation and analysis, allowing the recognition of inequality in its multiple dimensions and the presence of different social and economic factors that lead individuals and families to situations risk and / or social vulnerability. We highlight the main objective in our research proposition, systematization and analysis of social indicators that allow the recognition of the territorial dimension of the coverage areas of Reference Centres for Social Assistance - CRAS in non-metropolitan urban realities. If selected and analyzed from a questioning of the territory, with proper systematization and cartographic representation, the indicators could (or should) express processes which should focus on the public policy of the Social Assistance question that underlies this research masters. From the (re) local knowledge, specific indicators and individuals are expected to be able to own public policy Social Asssistência promote and develop strategic actions effectively face the situations outlined above, allowing to go beyond the characterization of deficiencies, showing potential locations critical to the formulation, implementation and evaluation of public policies. It is in this sense that this dissertation seeks dialogue possible between Geography and Social Assistance, not in an abstract way, but concretely directed to action on areas of vulnerability and social risk. It is in this context that the systematization of indicators that consider the territory and their different realities become crucial to assist in the management of public policies. It is believed, therefore, that enter the territorial perspective in public policies in order to expand knowledge and information needed to help transform the data and statistics on the social reality in action tools, enables a more decisive intense look, extending the analysis this discussion.
