Abstract

Despite of the stability rates of smoking in women population, the regression index is low and still more dangerous in countries under development due to the tendency of feminization, poverty and addiction among young people. The attention to the women health is still more important due to the biological and social women particularities, which are heavily affected by this harmful habit. This research project aims to investigate the prevalence of active and passive tobacco and its dependency level, as well as its demographic and social conditions, the behavior related to the health and the health status in women inhabitants of the urban area of the city of Campinas in São Paulo. Survey data will be used ISACamp Health 2008/2009. This is a population-based cross-sectional study, with a probabilistic stratified sampling. The data were inserted in the software Epilnfo 6.04 and will be analyzed by means of Stata 11.0. In order to decrease the tobacco dependency it is very important to know the profile of the smoking women to ground the public health policies of improvement of the health conditions and reduction of the mortality index in this population
