Abstract

Access to information on Science and Technology is essential to the full exercise of citizenship and the establishment of a participatory democracy. In 2010, a survey conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Science and Technology, Museum of Life (Fiocruz) and Laboratory of Advanced Journalism Studies (Labjor - Unicamp) found that about 85% of the population was not able to cite examples of Brazilian scientists and research institutions of the country. Then it is understood, the importance of reflecting about what it means to diffuse in Brazil and, how effectively make it relevant and exciting in the Brazilian context. Scientific Diffusion, wherever possible, should occur in the same proportion the results are published in specialized journals, in seeking to assess the social and cultural impact of discoveries. However, one of the difficulties is the transposition of academic discourse to a simple language, direct and devoid of technical terms. The scientist must be a bridge between Science and general audience. The publication in Dentistry, specifically in the area of Oral Biology to the general audience is just beginning, and there is increasing demand to access quality publications. To perform this scientific journalism research, the Laboratory of Histology and Molecular Biology, of the Department of Morphology at the Piracicaba Dental School (UNICAMP) was chosen. This project proposes to diffuse through electronic magazine ComCiência, the progress of researches of the chosen laboratory in order to transpose the specialized and technical language to a non-specialized language, aiming a heterogeneous audience from a social, political, intellectual and economic point of view.
