Abstract

The research is part of a set of case studies of cities in the region of Campinas and Sorocaba representing consecutive cycles of Sorocaba territory marked by bandeirismo at tropeirismo (supply troops mules for mining in general) and the production of cotton. Delimits the case study of urban formation of Sorocaba, which had its first economic cycle marked by bandeirismo when they were assembled there trading posts and mining. Then, it analyzes the new economic cycle when troop of mules transform the urban core of the headquarters fairs mules that, by virtue of its privileged geographical position, became the geo-economic axis, between the northern and southern regions of Brazil. Investigates the formation of urban Sorocaba during the cycle of cotton. The research aims to investigate the initial spatial configurations of Sorocaba until such time that the Town of Our Lady of the Bridge of Sorocaba is elevated to city status in 1842. The research also aims to identify their urban heritage preserved, or their traces, with indication purposes of preservation policies and recovery of the identity of these nuclei and the appreciation of the historical aspects of their training. The research will also seek to identify the aspects of training land in urban land: the formation of the "look" and "term", identifying the role of ecclesiastical orders, the civil power (House) and residents donor of land for formation of urban heritage Establishing the core. The method to be adopted is that of historical cartography that allows elaborate interpretive maps of the spatial configuration in urban centers in different historical moments.
