Abstract

Cylindrostethinae is different from the other seven sub-families especially because of the small face length and the absence of the clypeal suture. The subfamily groups the Cylindrostethus, Platygerris and Potamobates genus. Cylindrostethinae's monophyletic was broken. However, the author used only three terminals. Cylindrostethinae's monophyletic was questioned, later confirmed. Nevertheless, only out groups of the neotropical Cylindrostethus species were used. Interspecific relationships between neotropical Cylindrostethus and Platygerris are not known. Despite the fact that various phylogenies suggested to Potamobates, large politomias still remain, probably because of the low number of characters. Among Cylindrostethinae genus only Potamobates has recent reviews. By the above, it is intended to undertake revision and phylogeny of the subfamily. If possible, all the species will be included, which will be borrowed from national and international institutions. As out group, Charmatometrinae and Gerrinae specimens will be used. The array will be made with the of the Winclada 1.00.08 program. The heuristic search will be made in the Nona program. (AU)
