Abstract

The aim of this study will be to evaluate the effects of plasma on the dentin surface and the bond strength of an adhesive system. Two application times of the plasma will be analyzed: 10 and 30 seconds. The chemical composition of the dentin treated with plasma will be determined by Fourier Transform Raman Spectroscopy, while the surface morphology will be evaluated using the Optical Interferometer (n = 5). The plasma effect on the viability of microorganisms that contaminate the dentin will be analyzed in confocal laser microscopy and the influence of plasma on the enzymatic activity of metalloproteinases will be evaluated by zymography in situ method. Microtensile test will be used to evaluate the dentin bond strength and the specimens will be stored for 24 hours or 1 year (n = 8). The adhesive will be tested after two times of plasma treatment, with or without dentin acid etching. (AU)
