The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of plasma application on resin-dentin interfaces using nanoindentation, fracture toughness and SEM ultramorphological analysis. Scotchbond Universal Adhesive (3M ESPE) will be evaluated for both total-etch and self-etch approach. Experimental dentin specimens will be uniformly treated with non-thermal plasma brush for 10 or 30 seconds before the adhesive application. The modulus of elasticity (Er) and nanoindentation hardness will be evaluated in 3 structures (adhesive layer, hybrid layer and underlying dentin) using a Nano indenter (Nano Instruments, Inc., Knoxville, TN). Chevron-notched beam fracture toughness (CNB) will be measured following a modified ISO 24370 standard. For SEM analysis, samples will be sectioned, embedded in epoxy resin and polished before observations.
