EFFECT OF COLOSTRUM LYMPHOCYTES IN THE IMMUNE RESPONSE OF CALVES TO STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS

Abstract

The aim of this project is to evaluate the effect of passive transfer of lymphocytes from bovine colostrum in specific immunity of newborn calves. Will be used 20 calves divided into two groups: calves of group COL + will receive fresh colostrum (4L) from their mothers; animals of COL - group will receive acellular colostrum (4L) previously frozen at -20 ° C come from colostrum donor cows in the first 12 hours of life. The blood samples of the animals will be taken to evaluate the immune response and will be held at the following times: before feeding colostrum (M0), with 24-48 hours of life (M1), 7 days (M2) and 14 days after birth (M3). Will be performed the following immunological tests: Immunophenotyping of blood leukocytes to determine the proportion of memory cells (CD45RO), T lymphocytes (CD3 +) and a subpopulation gamma-delta, B lymphocytes (CD21 +) and activation of these cells by expression of the marker CD25 +. Moreover, we will evaluate the production of interferon-gamma by mononuclear leukocytes stimulated with Staphylococcus aureus. The results obtained using these variables will be tested using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality. If presents a parametric distribution, we will be subjected to variance analysis and differences will be assessed by the Duncan test (SAMPAIO, 1998). The results that do not show this distribution will be tested using the Mann-Whitney test (SIEGEL, 1975).
