Abstract

Heart failure (HF) is a public health problem and that progression involves the risk factors as lifestyle, medications, genetics, among others, as inadequate dietary intake of micronutrients such as iodine, selenium, zinc and iron. Patients with HF have altered intestinal absorption, inadequate food intake and use of drugs that interfere with the metabolism of these micronutrients. This can lead to a change in the profile of microelements causing thyroid dysfunction associated with HF. Thus, to investigate the profile of iodine, selenium and zinc in patients with IC is very important to clarify the involvement of these micronutrients in the etiology of thyroid disorder. Therefore, the objective of this study is to evaluate the levels of these micronutrients in patients with HF and thyroid dysfunction. For patients that are selected in the outpatient HF Hospital of Ribeirão Preto, with anthropometric measurements, analysis of food records and biochemical tests. By ICP-MS method will be used to determine the concentrations of iodine, zinc, selenium and iron from the blood and urine of patients and the values obtained are compared to the recommendation. Statistical tests for verification of significant differences (p <0.05) will be applied (AU)
