Abstract

Background: The research related to health promotion have increased in recent years, mainly due to the development of chronic diseases in the population, where the primary cause is the lifestyle adopted by the majority. Among the most frequent disorders highlights the Metabolic Syndrome (MS). Although the sedentary habit is not a criterion for determining the MS, is an important indicator of risk for development of disease. Searches related to physical exercise and resisted training has been conducted to clarify the effects of this practice in the relationship between health and disease, among which is the SM. Aim: to analyze and compare the effects of two resisted training programs (conventional vs complex exercises with levers movements) in markers of SM and functional fitness. Method: The study will consist of 60 subjects with MS, both sexes aged between 40 and 60 years, and will be divided in three randomized groups of 20 subjects each, two training groups and a control group. The groups will be submitted to their respective training programs, which will be periodized for 12 weeks, totaling 30 sessions of training. Analyses of MS components and functional fitness tests will be conducted in two stages, the first being the week before the start of training, and the second a week following the end of periodization. The analytical study of the response profiles of the groups in the follow-up evaluation of participants will be held considered the repeated measures model in independent groups, considering the technique of MANOVA (Multivariate Analyses of Variance), complemented with the construction of the intervals 95% simultaneous confidence of Hotelling.
