Abstract

The aim of the present study is to evaluate the immediate (48 hours) and long-term (180 days of water storage) push out bond strength of glass fiber posts (GFP) cemented to radicular dentin with different cementing agents. Thirty roots from human canines will have their conducts prepared for GFP (Reforpost #2, Angelus) cementation. Previously to this procedure, GFP will receive 37% acid conditioning (Condac 37, FGM) and silage coupling agent (Prosil/ FGM) application. Roots will be divided into two groups (n=15) according to the cementing agent that will be applied to it: ARC- Dual cure resin cement (RelyX ARC/ 3M ESPE) associated with a dual cure etch-and-rinse adhesive system (Adper Scotch Bond Multi-Uso Plus 3M/ESPE) or U200- Self-etching resin cement (RelyX U200 / 3M ESPE). The manufacturer's instructions will be followed during cementation procedures. After 48 hours, roots will be serially sectioned for push-out test analysis, providing two slices in each root third (cervical, medium, apical), being one tested immediately and the other one stored in distilled water, for 180 days. Push-out bond strength testing will be performed in a Universal Testing Machine (EMIC) with 0.5mm/min crosshead speed. Data will be statistically analyzed considering its distribution. If there is normality of errors distribution and homogeneity of variance, data will be submitted to repeated-measures ANOVA; on the contrary, non-parametric alternatives will be used, both with 5% significance level. The fracture pattern, observed after push-out bond strength test, will be scored and described in percentages.
