Abstract

Alcohol consumption among college students is associated with several health and academics problems. Internet Personalized Normative Feedback (PNF) has shown positive results to reduce alcohol use in this population. However, there are few studies in the Brazilian population, as well as the most effective components of the PNF. This project aims to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of an PNF intervention via the internet, through a randomized clinical trial for alcohol consumption among Brazilian college students, as well as evaluating the most effective components of the PNF (normative and list of consequences) . The development of the website for the intervention will be in partnership with the Centro de Integração Empresa-Escola (CIEE). The sample is composed of college students aged between 18 and 30 years. Participants allocated into four different groups: control, full intervention (PNF), feedback with normative components (FN) and feedback with list of consequences (FLC). We will use the dismantling design to study the most effective components. The instruments are self-administered and involve questions about alcohol use (AUDIT) and negative consequences (RAPI). Participants will be accessed in four different times (baseline, after one, three and six months). Statistical analyzes will consider a significance level of 5% and will be used chi-square tests, ANOVA and logistic regressions.
