Abstract

The Veterinary Medicine has a key role to play in the field of public health reflecting, in recent years the need for veterinary professionals specialized in this area, especially in governmental agencies and / or local. Some studies show that the veterinary schools have not emphasized the training in this sector. Currently, consisting of the same course curriculum, there is no significant orientation for preventive veterinary medicine and public health. Given the above idealized up this project with the objective of carrying out a situation analysis on the teaching of Veterinary Public Health in undergraduate courses in Veterinary Medicine, both public and private courses, from southeastern Brazil. For this analysis will be performed curriculum through desk research taking as the source used in curricular courses, and the identification of the knowledge of students on Veterinary Public Health through individual questionnaires. The expectation is to provide subsidies to possible restructuring of the curriculum in such a way that allows the graduates the knowledge of the spectrum of practice in Veterinary Public Health.
